It has been fifteen years Phil Coulter’ last studio CD, “American Tranquility” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Phil Coulter was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Phil Coulter and American Tranquility together. Lead single “Shenandoah” and “My Old Kentucky Home, I Dream Of Jeannie” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. American Tranquility constantly brilliant.
is the song that really did it for me.
My Old Kentucky Home, I Dream Of Jeannie has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Now Is The Hour as a highlight of American Tranquility contains a ton of excellent melodies. The Streets Of Loredo, Irene Goodnight - A strong beat. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Home Away From Home is my favorite song on American Tranquility. Don’t judge The Girl I Left Behind Me, The Yellow Rose Of Texas on the first listening. Home Sweet Home, The Wabash, Carry Me Back To The Old Virginny is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Nantucket Sunrise is one of the best records ever. Beautiful Dreamer is a striking and quite long song. Pier Avenue is perfect. The Green Leaves Of Summer is a fine track on any terms. You can find feelings on this piece of art. It’s a great pleasure to listen to The Banks Of The Ohio from the beginning to the end. I like the idea behind Natasha. First time I heard Love’s Old Sweet Song was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Album opener Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere is a bright, upbeat ditty. This is probably my favorite song on the album.
