Big Rock Candy Mountain is nothing but pure genius. Little White Duck as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Voice of Burl Ives in Goat is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Fox is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. In It Makes No Difference Now the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Lyrics of Cowboy’s Lament (Streets Of Laredo) are precise and evocative. One listen to the sheer beauty of I’ve Got No Use For Women was all I needed. Lavender Blue (Dilly Dilly) is probably the most interesting track on Lavender Blue. A fantastic track full of wonder. I’m Thinking Tonight Of My Eyes is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. In On The Grand Canyon Line full palet of sound is used by Burl Ives to accentuate the presentation. I love the melodic melody of Sweet Betsy From Pike and to this day it makes me feel good. Strong, powerful vocals of Burl Ives in Mr Froggie Went A Courtin’ are very impressive. Burl Ives has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Foggy Foggy Dew - A strong beat. Burl Ives rocks harder than ever with Little Mohee. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Frankie And Johnny is my favorite song on Lavender Blue. Burl Ives is one of artists that allow his songs like Riddle Song to stand on their own and be heard. Riders In The Sky (A Cowboy Legend) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect.
