Joe Ely had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. For older fans The Best of Joe Ely will put a massive smile accross your face. This disc has all of the essential Joe Ely classics. This is what good Country should be.
is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track.
This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. After you’ve listened to Tennessee’s Not The State I’m In, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Boxcars (4:02) - awsome. Vocals of Joe Ely in Tonight I Thinks I’m Gonna Go Downtown really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Honky Tonk Masquerade is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. West Texas Waltz - I just love it. Fools Fall In Love gives good insight into the truths. Standin’ At The Big Hotel - arguably the best track on The Best of Joe Ely album. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Musta Notta Gotta Lotta, which shows, blatantly, how much Joe Ely has evolved as a singer. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Long Snake Moan stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. I listened to the opening track Cool Rockin’ Loretta and liked it a lot. Once Settle For Love gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Me And Billy The Kid was the first single release from the album The Best of Joe Ely. I now have If You Were A Bluebird as one of my personal favorites. Letter To Laredo is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. In Roll Again it becomes nowhere more obvious that Joe Ely has yet to define own style. All Just To Get To You is possibly the best song Joe Ely has come up.
