Lead single “Leaving, On A Jet Plane” and “Take Me Home, Country Road” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of John Denver on ‘Leaving, On A Jet Plane’. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by John Denver. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Take Me Home, Country Road
In the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
Take Me Home, Country Road very upbeat. Overall a nice softer song. Some call Looking For Space from Country Roads: Best as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Country Roads: Best. Annie’s Song make listening to John Denver like being in some sort of time warp. My Sweet Lady is a bit different from John Denver stereotypical stuff. Shanghai Breezer is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Like A Sad Song is perfect work of John Denver. John Denver is one of artists that allow his songs like I’m Sorry to stand on their own and be heard. Seasons Of The Heart is a perfect, simple song by John Denver at the top of his game. This song may be the most meaningful. Listening to Perhaps Love you can hear that John Denver has still amazing chemistry with band members. I Want To Live has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets John Denver’s strong vocals come to the fore. Voice of John Denver in Sunshine On My Shoulders is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. On The Wings Of A Dream is the song that really did it for me. John Denver must have run out of lyrics on the next track This Old Guitar. Life Is So Good is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Country Roads: Best.
