There is so much to love about Down To The Bone, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Now signed to Down To The Bone’s Mute Records, the title track from second album “Spread The Word” leads Down To The Bone’s back-to-school campaign. Self-described as Acid Jazz with lots of words, Down To The Bone comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Unappreciated gift to Acid Jazz
Down To The Bone breathes new life into the music in .
Sound As A Pound is gorgeous song though, very addictive. Righteous Reeds sets the tone for the entire album. Bridge Port Boogie is the more seemingly obscure song on Spread The Word that bear up best to repeated listening. Soul Brother, No. 1 is the album’s biggest hit, I think. I listened to the opening track Downtown Shuffle and liked it a lot. In Black Choice the music gets its power. The Backburner rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Mighty Mighty Fine is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle.
