John Digester has compared writing for Lothlorien’s new album to that on ‘Greenwood Side’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. ‘Greenwood Side’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. It has been fourteen years Lothlorien’ last studio CD, “Greenwood Side” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Greenwood Side touched my soul like nothing else.
is a song to enjoy for years to come.
Dans en Dro actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Lothlorien’s face. She Moved Through The Fair - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Foggy Banks is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Simple and heartfelt closing track Ghostwood closes Greenwood Side on a high note. Siuil A Ruin is a song to enjoy for years to come. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: The Cruel Mother, which shows, blatantly, how much Lothlorien has evolved as a singer. Schottische Fran Havero sets the tone for the entire album. The Black Cat the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe.
