Fevers and Mirrors carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Bright Eyes’s debut, ‘Fevers and Mirrors’, does not fit easily into one genre. Since completing 2000’s ‘A Spindle, A Darkness, A Fever, And A Necklace’, Bright Eyes fulfilled their contract with Sparrow Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Bright Eyes released so far.
One of the songs that always stick in my mind is A Scale, A Mirror And Those Indifferent Clocks because the melody in the chorus is so good. Music and lyrics of The Calender Hung Itself… creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. The sound in Something Vague is really warm and Bright Eyes’s signature voice is still very much present. The Movement Of A Hand is the albums biggest surprise. All of songs on Fevers and Mirrors and have something to say letting alone Arienette. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Although Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh is very melodic it is far from sad. The Center Of The World is a great opener for Fevers and Mirrors. Sunrise, Sunset is one of the best records ever. An Attempt To Tip The Scales one is one of the better boring ones. One listen to the sheer beauty of A Song To Pass The Time was all I needed.
