Since The Charlatans last CD (Us and Us Only) on Virgin Records back in 2000, I have felt a massive void in my life. On the Canada charts, superstar The Charlatans’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Us and Us Only isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Forever and Good Witch/Bad Witch is really good.
The opening track is very much like you would expect from other albums.
Good Witch/Bad Witch one is one of the better boring ones. A fantastic track full of wonder. This song is dynamic and dramatic. House Is Not a Home is a bit of a show-tune. Some of the arrangements found on Us and Us Only are surprisingly edgy. The Charlatans emotions are reflected through My Beautiful Friend. I Don’t Care Where You Live is the first taste of the new album. Blind Stagger is The Charlatans’s best work in years. The Charlatans breathes new life into the music in Good Witch/Bad Witch. Watching You gives taste of what makes The Charlatans special as a musician.
