Self-described as Reggae with lots of words, Macaco comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. twelve years ago, Macaco briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Gacho El Peleon”. I am not a real Reggae music type of person, but i have to admit ‘El mono en el ojo del tigre’ really is amazing. Check it every song is worth the money for the El mono en el ojo del tigre CD!
is a good listen every once in a while.
Gacho El Peleon is the funkiest number on the album. La Raiz is simple, dignified and effective, Macaco refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Macaco emotions are reflected through Tio Pedrito. Delaveraveraboom is Macaco’s best work in years. Macaco is hitting on all cylinders in La Rebelion. Get El mono en el ojo del tigre and turn on Llamando A La Tierra if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Brujo Cabicho is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. The Blow is outstanding work of Macaco. Mamahemp is nothing but pure genius. Caigan Que Caigan is one of the coolest songs Macaco has ever recorded. Quiero Ser Como Tu is a bit different from Macaco stereotypical stuff. Chan Chan is the albums biggest surprise. Only one song from El mono en el ojo del tigre named Delaveraveraboom (David Byrne Remix) really got me. You can find feelings on this piece of art.
