Lead single “Ladiya” and “Rokiya” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Self-described as Folk: Neo-Folk with lots of words, Oumou Dioubate comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album has some very good songs like Ladiya and Rokiya. Oumou Dioubate “Wambara” is an amazing album.
is one of the more up-tempo songs on Wambara.
This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Wambara. Wambara stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Oumou Dioubate emotions are reflected through El Hadj. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Mawe is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Wambara. Charming song, great melody. This track is clearly meant to showcase Oumou Dioubate’s vocal abilities. Excellent vocals and musical performances. In Kouman Djan full palet of sound is used by Oumou Dioubate to accentuate the presentation.
