This disc has all of the essential Steve and John Hackett classics. Sketches Of Satie carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. There is so much to love about Steve and John Hackett, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. If you love Steve and John Hackett as much as I do, then Steve and John Hackett Sketches Of Satie is the CD for you!

Although Gnossienne No. 2 is very melodic it is far from sad. Steve and John Hackett sings Gnossienne No. 1 in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Musically Gymnopedie No. 3 is superior to other tracks in Sketches Of Satie. Best song on the album, love it. Gymnopedie No. 1 is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. The song Pieces Froides No. 1 (Airs a…..) ending is my favorite… so catchy! Pieces Froides No. 1 (Airs a…..) marked the continuation of Steve and John Hackett in style evolution. Pieces Froides No. 1 (Danse …..) is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. I like the idea behind Avant Dernieres Pensees (Idy…..). Avant Dernieres Pensees (Aub…..) without a doubt is the standout song of Sketches Of Satie. Avant Dernieres Pensees (Med…..) - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Steve and John Hackett. Gnossienne No. 4 is probably the most interesting track on Sketches Of Satie. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. One listen to the sheer beauty of Gnossienne No. 6 was all I needed. Nocturnes No. 1 - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Nocturnes No. 2 - A classic Steve and John Hackett track. Nocturnes No. 3 is a strong cut, one of many. Nocturnes No. 4 gives taste of what makes Steve and John Hackett special as a musician. Nocturnes No. 5 is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done.
