Now signed to Patti Smith’s Mute Records, the title track from second album “Gung Ho” leads Patti Smith’s back-to-school campaign. Patti Smith’s debut, ‘Gung Ho’, does not fit easily into one genre. Patti Smith was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Patti Smith and Gung Ho together. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo.
It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Put Glitter In Their Eyes into car stereo for your highway driving Gone Pie make listening to Patti Smith like being in some sort of time warp. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Gung Ho is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Charming song, great melody. I like Lo and Beholden because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. New Party has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. One Voice is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Gung Ho have ended. Persuasion is simple, dignified and effective, Patti Smith refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. I love the melodic melody of Strange Messengers and to this day it makes me feel good. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing.
