Huey Lewis and The News’s debut, ‘The Heart Of Rock and Roll: The Best Of’, does not fit easily into one genre. After seeing Power Of Love, I had to have a good Huey Lewis and The News cd. While no new Huey Lewis and The News album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2000 tour in Africa. Exciting stuff.
Huey Lewis and The News is one of artists that allow his songs like to stand on their own and be heard.
This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Lyrics of Do You Believe In Love are precise and evocative. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Heart Of Rock and Roll: The Best Of. Some Of My Lies Are True - This one is lively and fun. Workin’ For A Livin’ (Live) (4:02) a good melody. Bad Is Bad is a striking and quite long song. I have all of Huey Lewis and The News’s tracks and I Want A New Drug is probably the most his introspective effort. The Heart Of Rock and Roll is amazing and different song. Heart and Soul is a good listen every once in a while. Simple and heartfelt closing track Jacob’s Ladder closes The Heart Of Rock and Roll: The Best Of on a high note. Stuck With You is a very catchy tune. Trouble In Paradise is a song to enjoy for years to come. The song Walking On A Thin Line ending is my favorite… so catchy! Perfect World is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Small World (Part One) is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Don’t judge Back In Time on the first listening.
