On Anthology album, Roy Orbison have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Now signed to Roy Orbison’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “Anthology” leads Roy Orbison’s back-to-school campaign. On the England charts, superstar Roy Orbison’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. This album is in perfect progression from Roy Orbison!
A fantastic track full of wonder.
After about the third Pretty Paper listen through, I began to believe this song is Roy Orbison’s essence. Music and lyrics of It’s Over creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Blue Bayou, which shows, blatantly, how much Roy Orbison has evolved as a singer. Music in In Dreams is cool as in all tracks of Anthology. Walk On very upbeat. That Lovin’ You Feelin’ Again one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Crying is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. I find myself hearing bits of Oh, Pretty Woman here and there throughout my waking hours. Running Scared is simple, dignified and effective, Roy Orbison refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Ooby Dooby is a striking and quite long song. Voice of Roy Orbison in Only The Lonely is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream) has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album.
