Since Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows last CD (Dead Lovers’ Sarabande (Face Two)) on EMI Records back in 2000, I have felt a massive void in my life. John Digester has compared writing for Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows’s new album to that on ‘Dead Lovers’ Sarabande (Face Two)’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. There is no doubt that Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows has talent. This album is awesome.
actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows’s face.
The Dog Burial is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows ever produced. I believe The House Is Empty Now is one of the most exquisite, heartfelt songs ever written. No-One Is There is a bit different from Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows stereotypical stuff. Procession / Funeral March still maintains something of a specific flourish. This is one hell of a track. The Hourglass is probably the highlight of the album. Transfiguration is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Has He Come To Test Me? is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. If Loneliness Was All gives good insight into the truths. Daffodils is beautiful, yet underrated track.
