This eight-song debut EP shows the promise that Vanitas has. There is so much to love about Vanitas, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. After seeing Der Kurze Hoffnungsschimmer, I had to have a good Vanitas cd. Der Kurze Hoffnungsschimmer and Schmerz Des Daseins is really good.
is such a gorgeous and optimistic song that things can get just better.
Schmerz Des Daseins had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Walzertanz Im Flammenmeer has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Voice of Vanitas in Die Apokalyptische Zusammenkun is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Mein Nasses Grab is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Die Bewuyatwerdung Der Ausweglo which is my favorite is a truly Vanitas sounding song. Abschied - This one is lively and fun.
