This disc has all of the essential Empyrium classics. Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This album has some very good songs like Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays and Trying Brokenhearted. Empyrium is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays is .
Charming song, great melody. The Shepherd and the Maiden Ghost is the albums biggest surprise. Lyrics of The Sad Song and the Wind are precise and evocative. I can’t stop playing Wehmut. You can find feelings on this piece of art. When I listen to Abendrot in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. When Shadows Grow Longer 99 is probably the most interesting track on Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays.
