‘An Evening In Rivendell’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Tolkien Ensemble energies, virtually a rebirth. An Evening In Rivendell carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Tolkien Ensemble is one of my favourite bands of all time.
is one of these floating songs.
The Old Walking Song, The Road has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Tolkien Ensemble’s strong vocals come to the fore. The sound of Tom Bombadil’s Song, Hey Dol Merry Dol is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. There Is An Inn, A Merry Old Inn - A strong beat. Song Of Beren and Lthien - another great track from the An Evening In Rivendell album. Galadriel’s Song Of Eldamar, I Sang Of Leaves is astounding. I was truly moved when I heard Elven Hymn To Elbereth Gilthoniel, Snow-White Snow-White. The Ent and The Ent-Wife is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Sam’s Rhyme Of The Troll on An Evening In Rivendell is solid and easy to listen to. Don’t judge Galadriel’s Song Of Eldamar, Ai LauriGĀ« Lantar on the first listening. Sam’s Song In The Orc-Tower is simply amazing. Strong, powerful vocals of Tolkien Ensemble in The Old Walking Song, The Road…, Reprise are very impressive.
