On Antartida album, John Cale have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. There is so much to love about John Cale, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Antartida isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Antartida is the best essence of John Cale.
John Cale is hitting on all cylinders in .
Barn is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. After about the third People Who Died listen through, I began to believe this song is John Cale’s essence. Musically Antartida starts Here is superior to other tracks in Antartida. Frame Up is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Flashback is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Sunset - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Get Away is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Antartica starts Here - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of John Cale. Flashback gives good insight into the truths. Flashback is simple, dignified and effective, John Cale refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Maria’s Dream - A catchy, upbeat tune. bath is really a nice song to relax and listen too. I can’t stop humming along Pasodoble Mortal. Flashback is worth the money. On the Waterfront - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Maria’s Appartement (1:06) a good melody. Antartida - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Music and lyrics of velasco’s Theme creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Flashback is the album’s biggest hit, I think.
