Lead single “What You Talkin’ About” and “Tras D’orizao” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It’s natural for Kongar-ol Ondar and Paul Pena to take a stab at ‘What You Talkin’ About’ considering her long-professed love for KLF. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Kongar-ol Ondar and Paul Pena energies, virtually a rebirth. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Kongar-ol Ondar and Paul Pena ever.
is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart.
Tras D’orizao stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Terraplane Blues - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Alash Khem (The Alash River) is pretty funky and mellow. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Ondarnyng Ayany (Medley in the stile of Ondar) because the melody in the chorus is so good. I came to like Durgen Chugaa (Fast Talk). Get Genghis Blues and turn on Kaldak-Hamar (The Other Side of the Mountain) if you are going to sip your wine late at night. A great put together song. This track is full of harmonies and gets Genghis Blues off to a relaxing start. Sunezin Yry (Soul’s Song) - Okay, I just talked about depth. Kargyraa Moan is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Tuva Farewell is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Kongar-ol Ondar and Paul Pena ever produced. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Genghis Blues is You Gotta Move. Tuva Farewell is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Kongar-ol Ondar and Paul Pena released so far. After you’ve listened to Genghis Blues Soundbites, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. I like to sing along with Kaldak Hamar (Live), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. From the moment you listen to Eki A’ttar (Good Horses)(Live) you’re hooked.
