This is the first studio album from Flower Kings since bad diagnosis in 1999. Since completing 1999’s ‘Dawn’, Flower Kings fulfilled their contract with Sparrow Records and where under no obligation to release another album. There were many famous songs of Flower Kings available. Unappreciated gift to Rock: Progressive
From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit.
Simple Song is nothing but pure genius. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Business Vamp, which shows, blatantly, how much Flower Kings has evolved as a singer. The opening track All You Can Save is very much like you would expect from other albums. Attack Of The Monster Briefcase is the more seemingly obscure song on Flower Power that bear up best to repeated listening. Mr. Hope Goes To Wall Street is a great opener for Flower Power. The sound in Did I Tell You is really warm and Flower Kings’s signature voice is still very much present. Garden Of Dreams is a gorgeous sing-along. I’ve found myself listening to Don’t Let The D’evil In back to back and back many times. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. There’s No Such Night is one of the coolest songs Flower Kings has ever recorded. Mean Machine is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Music in Dungeon Of The Deep is excellent as in all tracks of Flower Power. Indian Summer is the albums biggest surprise. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Flower Power. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Shadowland defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Flower Power couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Final Deal. Captain Capstan (0:45) a good melody. First time I heard Ikea By Night was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Astral Dog is beautiful, yet underrated track. Deaf, Numb & Blind is a very catchy tune. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. In Corruption the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Nice and different song. I like the agression and power of Psycedelic Postcard. After few listenings I started to like Hudson River Sirens Call 1998 more and more. This is probably my favorite song on the album. I came to like Painter. I loved Calling Home the first time I heard it. This track is just a stunning masterpiece.
