Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. twelve years ago, Mum briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Smell Memory”. Since Mum last CD (Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today) on Sparrow Records back in 2000, I have felt a massive void in my life. I’m 9 Today and Smell Memory is really good.
The opening track is very much like you would expect from other albums.
The song Smell Memory ending is my favorite… so catchy! There Is a Number of Small Thi is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Random Summer is a good listen every once in a while. Asleep on a Train is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Awake on a Train is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Mum ever produced. The Ballad of the Broken Birdi - A nice song. The Ballad of the Broken Strin is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Sunday Night Just Keeps on Rol - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Once you hear Slow Bicycle, you will listen to it over and over.
