Cafe Del Mar’s debut, ‘Ibiza-Volumen 07′, does not fit easily into one genre. This album has some very good songs like Northern Lights (Lux) and Breather 2000 (Arithunda Mix; Afterlife). There is so much to love about Cafe Del Mar, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Only one song from Ibiza-Volumen 07 named really got me.
Cafe Del Mar allows each song to breathe and flourish. Whispering Wind (Moby) is pretty funky and mellow. The sound in Easy Rider (Deep and Wide) is really warm and Cafe Del Mar’s signature voice is still very much present. Some of the arrangements found on Ibiza-Volumen 07 are surprisingly edgy. Sunbeams (UKO) - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Winter Pagent (Aromabar) one is one of the better boring ones. Beautiful Strange (Bedrock) very upbeat. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Ibiza-Volumen 07 is One More Try (A New Funky Generation feat. Joy Rose). Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Swollen (Bent). 68 Moves (Underwolves) is one of the coolest songs Cafe Del Mar has ever recorded. Cahuita (Oystein Sevag and Lakki Patey) hits the heart. Riva (Slow. Pulse feat. Cathy Battistessa) as a highlight of Ibiza-Volumen 07 contains a ton of cool melodies.
