Greatest Hits isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This disc has all of the essential Ottawan classics. On Greatest Hits album, Ottawan have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Greatest Hits.
- Well, here we get a bit more meaning.
You’re OK is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Hands Up (Give Me Your Heart) is the first taste of the new album. Help, Get Me Some Help is astounding song though, very addictive. One listen to the sheer beauty of Crazy Music was all I needed. This song may be the most meaningful. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Greatest Hits is D.I.S.C.O. (French Version). Shalala Song is one of the more up-tempo songs on Greatest Hits. All of songs on Greatest Hits and have something to say letting alone A.I.E. Is My Song. Siesta For Two is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Musique Magique is a very catchy tune. Top Secret motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Music of Shubidube Love is gentle, never overbearing. Doudou La Rumba is simple, dignified and effective, Ottawan refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. The first time I listened to Comme Aux USA I was struck by its exquisite sound. Tant Que Durera La Nuit - Ottawan first major hit.
