Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Tortoise on ‘Seneca’. This is the first studio album from Tortoise since bad diagnosis in 2000. Standards isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Great Alternative right here!
You have to get essence of the ’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece.
Eros is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Tortoise ever produced. Tortoise breathes new life into the music in Benway. In Firefly Tortoise is at his best. Six Pack is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Eden 2 has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Tortoise. Blackjack - Okay, I just talked about depth. Eden 1 is simple, dignified and effective, Tortoise refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. The first time I listened to Speakeasy I was struck by its cool sound.
