This is one of the best Cd’s David Byrne has dropped to date. Lead single “America Is Waiting” and “Mea Culpa” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. ‘My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Mea Culpa
without a doubt is the standout song of My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts.
David Byrne offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. David Byrne is hitting on all cylinders in Help Me Somebody. After you’ve listened to The Jezebel Spirit, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Very Very Hungry is one of the coolest songs David Byrne has ever recorded. Moonlight In Glory is a very catchy tune. I listened to the opening track The Carrier and liked it a lot. I’ve found myself listening to A Secret Life back to back and back many times. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts. Mountain Of Needles is one of the best records ever.
