Hotel’s isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Stephan Eicher. On Hotel’s album, Stephan Eicher have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Smart music for smart people.
is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined.
In Oh ironie full palet of sound is used by Stephan Eicher to accentuate the presentation. 1000 vies is Stephan Eicher’s best work in years. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Hotel’s. Rien a voir is one of these floating songs. All of songs on Hotel’s and have something to say letting alone Ni remords ni regrets. Des hauts des bas sets the tone for the entire album. Manteau de gloire is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Elle vient me voir is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Hemmige is another favourite of mine. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Dejeuner en paix on Hotel’s is solid and easy to listen to. Pas d’ami comme toi one is one of the better boring ones. This track is full of harmonies and gets Hotel’s off to a relaxing start. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Combien de temps is the more seemingly obscure song on Hotel’s that bear up best to repeated listening. The first time I listened to Two people in a room I was struck by its amazing sound. Voice of Stephan Eicher in La chanson Bleue is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant.
