While no new Blackmore’s Night album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1999 tour in Asia. ‘Under A Violet Moon’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Blackmore’s Night has. Exciting stuff.
is one of the best records ever.
Now And Then - This one is lively and fun. Fool’s Gold is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Durch Den Wald Zum Bach Haus is probably the most interesting track on Under A Violet Moon. Catherine Howard’s Fate is exquisite song though, very addictive. Spanish Nights (I Remember It Well) is a fine track on any terms. March The Heroes Home is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Beyond The Sunset is absolutely incredible. This track is clearly meant to showcase Blackmore’s Night’s vocal abilities. Under A Violet Moon couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Wind In The Willows. Possum Goes To Prague is one of the best records ever. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Morning Star is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Past Time With Good Company is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Castles And Dreams great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Under A Violet Moon is a strong cut, one of many.
